A CCTV survey:
1. Looks inside the drain.
2. Shows the exact location of any defects.
3. Allows the most cost effective repair.
4. Can demonstrate that the system is in good order.
5. Ideal for house purchasers and surveyors.
Additionally:
» A written report is always provided.
» A DVD recording is available at a small extra charge.
It's an indispensable aid for a house purchaser or vendor.
Old method: The Pressure Test
Blocking a drain off and seeing if it retains water, this is not a very scientific way of seeing if a drain leaks - but this is essentially what a pressure test is. Blockbusters can perform this if required.
New technology: The CCTV Survey
A camera survey, however, gives a far fuller picture of the state of a drain. This passes an illuminated camera through a drain system, giving a view of the inside of the drain pipe, often for the first time since the Victorian age! A defect can then be accurately identified and located.
If the drain is retaining water, it must be cleared by High Velocity Water Jetting before a camera can see inside the pipe.
A camera survey is of importance both to a vendor and a house purchaser and can settle questions of responsibility and financial liability in the future. In all cases we will provide a written report. If an over-typed DVD of the survey is required, it should be specified prior to the survey being carried out. A DVD can be copied and provided to a number of prospective purchasers by a vendor.
Cost
For a typical domestic dwelling the charge is £95 plus vat (£111.63 VAT inclusive) (approximately 1 hour's work on 20/30 metres of pipe). A DVD recording is an additional £15 plus vat (£17.63 VAT inclusive). |
